Emmanuelle Jeannot is a native French speaker, born in Paris. Like most French children she learnt English at school. She was also taught German and Latin and knows only too well what it means to learn a foreign language! After completing her baccalauréat Emmanuelle went to l'Université Paris V - René Descartes where she gained a Degree (maîtrise) in social psychology and a Masters (Diplôme d'Etudes Supérieures Spécialisées) in cognitive ergonomics. Emmanuelle also holds a qualification in advertising and marketing.

After university Emmanuelle began her professional career as a Human Factors specialist (Ergonome). In particular, she spent five years at the prestigious pan-European organisation for Air Traffic Management (ATM) known as EUROCONTROL. Given the predominance of English in the field of ATM, Emmanuelle was using English as her working language on a daily basis. Then, in 2000, she moved to the UK where she was employed with the defence and security company QinetiQ, working on a wide range of civil and military technological projects. She left QinetiQ in 2005 to set up her own company (HF Matters Ltd), working as an independent Human Factors consultant.

Living and working in the UK has given Emmanuelle a thorough knowledge of the workings of the English language and British culture in general. Wishing to capitalise on her linguistic skills, in 2008 she launched a new career as a translator and French tutor. However, aware that professional translation involves much more than fluency of two languages, Emmanuelle decided to study for the Diploma in Translation (Dip Trans) with City University London. The Dip Trans is a widely recognised, postgraduate level equivalent international qualification, which provides a real measure of professional competence. Emmanuelle passed the Dip Trans examination in January 2010. (She is therefore entitled to use the designation "DipTransloLET" – if she wants!) Emmanuelle is also an Associate of the Institute of Translation & Interpreting and an active member of its French network.

Emmanuelle lives in the town of Great Malvern at the foot of the scenic Malvern Hills. She is married and has a cat called Denzel.
